Omaha's older homes sit on brick — and brick foundations talk.

Thousands of Omaha homes, especially the pre-war housing stock, stand on brick and block foundations. They're strong — but their mortar is a century old, and Nebraska's wet springs and freeze-thaw winters work on it every year. The warning signs escalate in a predictable order: hairline cracks, then stair-step cracks following the joints, then dampness, then bulging. Every step up that ladder multiplies the repair cost.

We diagnose honestly. Some cracks are settled-and-done cosmetic history; some are active and structural. We'll tell you which one you have, show you why, and quote only what actually needs doing — that's the approach behind our 4.8★ rating.

Good to know

Straight answers before you call.

Are stair-step cracks always serious?
They're always worth a look — they follow the mortar joints, which means the wall is moving or the mortar is failing. Some are old settlement that's finished; some are active. We'll tell you honestly which you have and what, if anything, it needs.
Do you repair the whole foundation or just the bad spots?
Whatever the wall actually needs. Sometimes it's two courses near a downspout; sometimes it's a full repoint. We quote only what needs doing — customers consistently mention the invoice matched the estimate.
My basement gets damp after rain. Same problem?
Often, yes — failed foundation joints are a main water path. We repair the masonry and can waterproof the wall in the same visit. See our basement waterproofing service for the full picture.
Can you work on a 100-year-old brick foundation?
That's our specialty. Old foundations need softer, compatible mortar and a careful hand — modern hard mortar can make historic brick fail faster. We match materials to the era of the house.
